So, in the past month, I've realized that I'm more creative than what I typically give myself credit for.   Usually, I feel that it's impossible for me to have an original idea--something that just sparks in me.  I've realized that isn't true at all.  Maybe it's just the unusual amount of them I've had lately that brings this to attention, I don't know.  But I dig it.  Over the holiday I took a break from artistic stuff and focused on sewing;  I only drew one thing the entire time, but it was pretty fucking amazing if I do say so myself.  I drew the barn from the farm.   Now, it's really no secret (imo) that I cannot do landscapes, architecture, or complete page-covering drawings.  This one just ruined my assumptions about all three.  I am very, very, very proud of it.  I did it for my mum, so she has it.  I'm going to ask her to scan it for me so I can have a copy.  It's no where near perfect, but I am so incrediably proud of it.   Like... more than I have been about any piece of art in a very, very long time.  It was all done with various methods of shading and texture, as it has water, wood, leaves, rocks, concrete, grass, and a dirt path, and I'm very pleased with the differences in each texture I managed to produce.   I also did some 5 minute practice sketches of different facial expressions involving open mouthes.  I showed them to Mum, and she said each expression was unique and obvious, which is great!  Hopefully I'm beginning to develop some more; for a while, it sort of felt like I had reached a plateau, and that was it.  Glad to see it isn't so!

So, I went to Target today and came across the most exciting thing I think I've ever seen:  A legitimate shit ton of clearance picture frames.  Okay.  Like.  The only way I can describe my emotion when coming across this was, like, an orgasm.  Just.  Explosions inside.

Now, you probably think that my reaction is a little over-board and sort of insane and unreasonable.  Oh ho ho, my friends, how I beg to differ.  Picture frames, even cheapish ugly ones usually cost between $16 and $50.  Now.  These were $1.74-$7.99 and absolutely gorgeous.  I boughtttt... three 4x6  and four 5x7.  Most of them are varying shades of antiqued "wood," ranging from slate grey to sepia-red.  One is made of metal shaped like bamboo-ish, and the other is green with pink really beautiful birds and flowers.

SO.  My idea for the frames:  MAKE PICTURES TO GO INSIDE.  xD  lolz.  There are enough of them to be really creative (uh-oh!) about it, and make a sort of Taylor Books-esque display.  PLUS THERE ARE SHITTONS MOOOOORE THAT I CAN GO BACK AND BUY IF NEEDED, AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.  I mean, I'm so excited, guyz.  This is ridiculous.  Someone stop me, please.  I cannot handle this.

Here are some of the things I've sewn! )

So, the camera on my phone > my real camera.  I don't understand, but just know that all of the above pictures were taken while driving (and we all know how I drive, so you can imagine the speeds) on my phone.

I think, at the moment, I actually have a favourite-favourite song.  It's The Bleeding Heart Show, by the New Pornographers.  The way it sounds is amazing.  I love songs that give me the feeling this one does.  A brief (hah) list of the ones that have a similar effect (but do not necessarily invoke the same emotions), in case you are interested:

I Love Music and Never Let Down, both by Mr. AWK.
Glycerine, by Bush (shutup.)
Save, by The Rocket Summer.
Overture, by Patrick Wolf.
Hurt, in every version I've ever listened to.
The Crane Wife 3, by The Decemberists.
Now We Are Free, from the Gladiator Soundtrack.
Life, by Devin Townsend.
The Trapeze Swinger, by Iron and Wine.
Awake as If From Slumber, by Arcanta.
Lullaby, by Shawn Mullins (again, shutup.)
ANYTHING (but mostly Eastern Glow) by The Album Leaf.  They create wonderful "feeling" music.  I listen when I need to ruminate.
Don't Save Us From the Flames, by M83.
Someday You Will be Loved, by Death Cab for Cutie.
THE LAKE, BY AQUALUNG, an amazing amazing amazing song.
Buildings, Samson, and Oedipus, by Regina Spektor.
Time to Pretend, by MGMT.
Amour and Ohne Dich by Rammstein.
Any song off of the Halo Star album by black tape for a blue girl.
Boats and Birds, by gregoRy and the hawK.
Drip Drip by Comus.
NOVEMBER, BY DIVINITY DESTROYED.
CHEMICALS, by Diary of Dreams.
Burn, by the Cure.  (probably all-time favourite song, no contest.)
IT CAN'T RAIN ALL THE TIME, BY JANE SIBERRY.  This song produces so much emotion that I have not listened to it in 3 years.
The Dead Flag Blues, by Godspeed You! Black Emperor.
Iris, by the Goo Goo Dolls.
The Captain, by Guster.
Letter to Dana, by Sonata Arctica.
God's Gonna Cut You Down, by Johnny Cash.
No Woman No Cry, by Bob Marley.
CAPTAIN JACK, by BILLY JOEL.  Probably 2nd favourite song of all time, ever amen.
FULL CIRCLE, BY LOREENA MCKENNITT. EVERYONE SHOULD LISTEN TO THIS SOME TIME IN THEIR LIFE.
Also, Prospero's Speech, The Mystic's Dream, and the Old Ways, all by Loreena McKennitt.

There are many more.  A random list, to be sure.  If I had a list of "required listening," almost all of these songs would be on there.  Someday soon I'll actually make a short list of required listening, haha.  All of you should, too!  And we can exchange and become enlightened and such.  (:
